Urology of Virginia (Urology of VA), a practice providing comprehensive urological care in Hampton Roads for nearly 100 years, has expanded its services via a strategic partnership with Captive Radiology with the installation of a Siemens Biograph mCT PET/CT scanner.
Through this partnership, patients will have the opportunity to receive PSMA (Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen) PET scans at Urology of VA’s 225 Clearfield Avenue location. The PSMA PET scan is a diagnostic technique used to detect prostate cancer throughout the body. It involves the use of a radioactive tracer that binds to PSMA proteins, which are overexpressed by prostate cancer tumors. The PSMA PET scan is FDA-approved and is more effective than current standard-of-care imaging techniques in detecting prostate cancer for better treatment planning and targeted care.

The Siemens Biograph mCT is flexible to accommodate a broad patient demographic. Its innovative dose-reduction technologies minimize patient exposure to radiation. Additionally, the system’s fast scan times result in less patient motion, so image quality and the overall patient experience can be optimized.
