About Our Partner
Virginia Urology (VU) is one of the leading urologic specialty practices in Virginia, serving the greater Richmond market with seven locations and a provider team of 60+ physicians and advanced practice clinicians. Their comprehensive Advanced Prostate Cancer Center delivers a full continuum of care, including diagnostic imaging, therapeutics, and patient support.
Diagnostic Imaging Needs: Advancing Prostate Cancer Care
To strengthen their Advanced Prostate Cancer Center and support a growing population of patients requiring PSMA PET-CT imaging, Virginia Urology sought a partner with:
- Expertise in launching and operating high-acuity PET-CT programs
- Support navigating COPN requirements
- Turnkey staffing, logistics, and operations
- Experience with PSMA radiotracers and distribution workflows
- The ability to deploy and manage a parked mobile imaging solution
As Captive’s first Urology PET-CT partnership, Virginia Urology required a high-touch, collaborative approach that would establish a reliable, scalable foundation for their imaging program.
Captive Radiology PET-CT Solutions
Since scanning their first patient in March 2023, Captive Radiology has delivered a full-service PET-CT solution that includes:
- A parked Siemens MCT 20 PET-CT system
- COPN application guidance and support
- End-to-end operational management with 3 Captive team members onsite
- Tracer logistics and distribution through Pylarify (Lantheus) with coordination via Sophie
- Program leadership and oversight from Dan Walker
- All staffing, service, compliance, and scheduling support necessary for consistent program performance
The partnership has quickly grown into a high-volume, high-quality service line, averaging 125+ scans per month.
Partnership Wins
Through this collaboration, Virginia Urology has been able to:
- Deliver advanced PSMA PET-CT imaging within a comprehensive prostate cancer care program
- Improve access for patients across the greater Richmond region
- Establish a highly efficient, reliable mobile imaging operation
- Strengthen clinical decision-making with precise diagnostic information
- Build a scalable model that supports continued growth in advanced oncology services
Virginia Urology’s PSMA PET-CT program now serves as a central component of their Advanced Prostate Cancer Center, which also includes therapies such as Pluvicto (not operated by Captive, though Captive supports the broader program’s patient care ecosystem).
